Air show - October 19, 2013

On Saturday 19 October, the “MG Air Show” event took place at the military airport of Ghedi (BS), organised by the Lombardy Regional Centre, under the instigation of member Vittorio Bolla.

Twenty MGs for 40 participating members showed up at the airport gates, to enter in a convoy, one behind the other, and then off along the runways and the paths inside the base. Parking had been reserved for us in a parking lot in front of two fighter-bombers: the resulting view was remarkable!

Then a briefing by a captain, in which we were explained the activities that normally take place at an operational base like Ghedi, and then everyone headed towards the close encounter with two other fighters displayed for us, with the related explanations and answers to our questions by the military personnel who accompanied us.

And to truly immerse ourselves in the spirit of the Base, lunch was held in the Officers' Mess, where we were pleasantly surprised by both the service and the quality of the food, which were truly excellent. The icing on the cake (and it's true to say so) was dessert: a delicious personalized cake with our Club's name, a truly appreciated gesture.

After exchanging souvenirs and goodies, and greeting and thanking the Base staff who assisted us, the gathering continued to Desenzano del Garda (about thirty kilometers away) with a stroll along the lakeside and a refreshment stop at a lakeside bar. Then we said our goodbyes and everyone headed back to their respective residences.

An event of this kind was particularly well received by the members who participated: proof of this is the thank you messages that arrived after the meeting and the participation received not only from members in Lombardy, but also from those in neighboring Emilia-Romagna and Veneto, and even from Tuscany: a truly satisfying experience, considering it was a half-day event.
