Truffle Festival - October 31, 2010

Waking up early on a Sunday morning in the rain can seem like a bad start to the day.
But when you're a member of the MG Car Club Italia, it's a different story because you know everyone else is out there in their MGs, too. So, at the meeting point in this charming town in the Oltrepò Pavese area, known for its truffle grounds, friends are there with their cars of every color, livening up the atmosphere. Blue MGB, yellow MGB, white MGB, red MGB, black MGB, green MGA, black MGA, blue MGA, red Midget,… we're all here…

The organization of the Regional Center of Lombardy is perfect, in fact the rain stops falling when the tour among the truffle and mushroom stalls displaying "designer" pieces begins, how can you resist taking advantage of it?
Luckily, we have Angelo among us, a leading expert on the subject, to advise us.
 
Then everyone goes to the truffle dog demonstration competition… and so we learn that they are of the Lagotto breed, with a large nose of adequate size, that at a recent auction one of them was sold for 60,000 euros, but that the return on the investment is certain.
Stroll through the town center and enjoy an aperitif in the cellars of Godiasco's historic building.
Lunch is no exception: tables reserved for us for a traditional menu featuring white truffles: Alba truffle, risotto, and fried eggs. How do you say "the right end for this delicacy," a dish still being debated as to whether it's of animal, vegetable, or mineral origin?
Once again I had confirmation of the pleasure of being together that characterizes the Club members.
